Emma Charlton is a London based contemporary visual artist and reiki practitioner.

Her work transitions between abstract painting, art direction, illustration, graphic design, installations, live art performance and reiki healing.

Born 25 May 1985, a self taught artist Emma started painting at 11 years old, but it wasn’t until 2012 when her artistic practices became her sole focus. After a 4 month trip to South America she moved to Ibiza and set up her first studio in her room at a farmhouse on the north side of the island. She lived in Ibiza for almost 2 years collaborating with musicians, designers and Atzaro Hotel.

Now based in London, with a studio in Hackney Wick her work continues to develop into new realms using flow states as a source for painting artworks. The pieces have a recognisable depth of emotion to them that can’t always be described with words. Vibrant palettes offer a sense of being ‘inside’ the work’. Her installation shows, (Fluctuations) London, and (The Flowerheads) Beirut, have included immersive and visually compelling journeys into nature and mystical lands. Emma works on selected design projects with clients in the fashion, music & corporate industries.

Emma was attuned by reiki master Torsten Lang of the London Reiki Academy in 2017. (Rei)’ universal’ (ki) ‘Life force’ is an ancient Japanese energy healing technique that works holistically; on the whole body, mind and spirit. Not a system of religious beliefs, Reiki is simply a relaxing treatment whereas natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner (acting as a conduit) to the body of the recipient.

As a qualified practitioner her experiences with reiki continue to inform her work greatly and she offers reiki healing to those who are open to it from her studio.
